April 2022 - Oil Spill

Dr. Doris Reategui and a group of local specialty veterinarians went out to help homeless dogs affected by an oil spill this past April 2022. We are so proud to have been able to assist these canines, we are so proud of our team. 

Patients: Homeless dogs on the beach
Different findings: dogs with uveitis, ictericia, underweight, Diahrrea, vomits, abdominal pain, Upper respiratory disease
Western: Blood work and control of internal/external parasites were made. Two puppies in bad shape were taken to the city for hospitalization
Eastern: Wei Qi deficiency. As all had different things we decided to treat the Wei Qi.
Acupuncture Principle: Tonify Wei Qi
Acupuncture Treatment: BL 13,18,19,20,21,23. We only used bladder point because of dog temperaments

Patients: Two puppies hospitalized from oil spill, Chimbotana y Tatiana  (June follow up photos below)
Findings: 
Tatiana had uveitis, severe thrombocytopenia, splenomegaly, hepatomegaly, diahrrea with strong smell and blood, very low energy.
Chimbotana had very low energy, diarrhea with strong smell and blood, vomits, splenomegaly and hepatomegaly, strong pulse and pale tongue
Western: ehrlichiosis and chronic intoxication with hidrocarbures. the last one was presumptive because there was no budget for this test.
Eastern: Wei Qi deficiency, Spleen Qi deficiency with damp, damp heat in liver
Acupuncture Principle: Tonify Wei Qi, tonify spleen, drain damp, clear heat
Acupuncture Treatment: Aquap: bl18,19,20,21,23
